The Book of Alys
The city is dark and desolate.
A part of me regrets leaving home, especially leaving the way I did with a note that said, “You’re too smothering. I need to try to survive on my own.”
I will admit, I shouldn’t have been so harsh, but it’s like she doesn’t see me if I’m not.
I was doing alright, but my problem came when I thought I knew better than I did.
Now it’s too late. And I don’t even know if I’ll have the chance to ever tell her how sorry I am for not listening and trusting her in the first place.
Because⦠she was right. I’m not ready. Not to face the dangers of what the world has become. Or to face the consequences of what happens when you try to take on a world you’ve never known.
